The Welcome Home Ceremony
will be a procession from North Wilkesboro through downtown Elkin to Hodges Funeral Home. It wil start at noon Wednesday, July 15th from the Wilkes County Airport.

The Visitation
will be at 6pm Friday, July 17th at First Baptist Church of Elkin.


Capt Mark Garner will be at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin from 8 a.m. until 3 pm Friday and 8 am until noon on Saturday.

The family will be at the Elkin First Baptist Church beginning at 6pm Friday. A shuttle service will be provided to the church from the Chatham parking lot, town parking lot (across from Chamber), post office/library parking lot, Smith Phillips parking lot, and Combs/old Brendles parking lots.

The Funeral

Funeral services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Elkin First Baptist Church. Additional seating, with audio and video, will be provided in the church chapel and fellowship hall. A shuttle service will be provided from the Chatham parking lot to the church.

Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin. The cemetery will be closed to all vehicles not in the funeral precession. The cemetery will be open to pedestrian traffic.

From I-77, take Exit 82 and go west on NC Hwy 67.
Travel 1.7 miles to traffic signal just before the historic closed bridge and bear left on to Elm Street. At stoplight, turn right and cross the bridge and railroad tracks. Go two stoplights and turn right on Market Street. Make the next left on Gwyn Avenue to

In lieu of flowers for the upcoming funeral service for CPT Mark A. Garner, the family has requested that donations be made to the newly established CPT Mark A. Garner Scholarship Fund.
It was Mark’s wish that the scholarship provide financial assistance for local students to pursue a bachelor degree and enrich their lives with education and travel.
